Judith Uehling's paintings look abstract but almost always incorporate images found on post cards from Berlin's flea markets or photos taken or collected in Central Asia. The photos are then enlarged and silk-screened or collaged onto the painting surface. The postcard texts, images and pavement pattern rubbings act as a metaphor for the gap between the concreteness of urban life and memories that haunt to this day.
